Tommy Levin

Tommy Levin, 96, passed away on Feb 1, 2017. Tommy was born in Latvia on May 15, 1920. Tommy and his father Joe Levin came to the United States in the 1930's and he was drafted into the Army and served as an Interpreter in World War II. He spoke Russian, Hebrew and English. He married Lois Helene Klausner and they had two children, Michael and Dana. Tommy worked for many years as a salesman in the furniture business. He began at Hovas Furniture and then worked at Finger Furniture where he was recognized as top salesman for many years until retirement. Tommy had a real passion for sales, and a sense of humor that made things fun. For the last thirty years, Tommy spent his life with his life-long partner, Anne Gold Levin. After retirement, he continued to stay busy, always repairing things. He was a wonderful handyman, had a green thumb and kept the yard a haven for all who visited. He was always doing things for others, and was meticulous and precise about everything he did. Tommy was devoted to his family and friends. No distance was ever too great. He was always happy to help but never asked for help. He was always here to make our lives a little softer. No one was ever a stranger, and he treated everyone with respect and always found humor and color in everything he did. He will always be remembered in our hearts with much love. Tommy is survived by son, Michael Levin and his children Ian Levin and his wife Jessie Levin and their three children Austin, Bella and Lilly, Justin Levin and his wife Laura Levin and their two children Evie Levin and Alice Levin, daughter Dana Levin and her husband Jose' Benavides, and their two children Nicolas and Zachary Benavides-Levin, Anne Levin, Lois Levin Hudson, Charles Levin and his wife Christine and daughter Chelsea Levin, and cousin and good friend, Hillel Weinbaum and his son Elan Weinbaum. Anne, Dana, and Michael wish to thank Future Woodward, Hazel McFarlin, Lucy Jones and Gladys Hawkins, our caregivers, for coming into our home and keeping it warm and full of life through dad's final days. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Houston Hospice or plant a tree in Israel in his memory through the Jewish National Fund.
