Lenora Tiras Brand

Lenora Tiras Brand a resident of Houston and Laredo, Texas died peacefully at her residence surrounded by friends and family on December 20, 2019. Nani was 90 years old when she passed away. Lenora was born on May 7, 1929, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Texas to her parents Henry and Sue Tiras. Lenora grew up Houston and was a very proud graduate of San Jacinto High School. She married the love of her life, MD Brand at the Rice Hotel in Houston. Lenora and MD Brand moved from Houston to Laredo in 1959 and where she lived for 56 years. After MD passed away, Lenora returned to Houston in 2015 to be closer to family. Lenora worked as a buyer for Dillard's Department Store and as a teacher's aid at Lamar Middle School. Always giving of her time and boundless energy, Lenora was a member of many community groups and civic organizations, including the Women's City Club of Laredo, the Martha Washington Society, and the Princess Pocahontas Pageant & Ball. Lenora loved traveling, playing tennis and dancing, particularly the two-step. Other than her family, Lenora's other love was shopping, always staying up on the latest fashions and looking her best. When Lenora was not volunteering or shopping, one of her favorite things to do was substitute teach. She worked in the Laredo Independent School District well into her 80s. Lenora lived a full life, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Lenora was always energetic and loved people, never meeting a stranger. Lenora will be remembered for her quick wit, humor, and beauty inside and out. Lenora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and daughter, Sandra "Cookie" Brand. She is survived by her son, Randall Jay Brand, daughter, Selina Brand(Langdon "Trey") Smith; grandchildren, Brittany and Austin Smith, Charlie and Phillip Brand; sister, Molly Ann Kaplan; niece and goddaughter, Lauri Laufman(Melody Paige) and nephew Ronnie(Ann) Laufman. The family would like to thank Veronica Rivera, Koshi Matthews, Joyce Chaney, Jackie Williams and Claudia Castaneda, for the care, love and friendship they shared with Lenora. We would also like to thank everyone at the Brookdale-Gallery and Colonial Oaks-Braeswood for their support and care.
