The world became a little darker as we said goodbye to the light of our lives. It is with tremendous sadness, and even greater love, that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Adrienne Shea Strull, who was surrounded by her loving family on June 28th at the age of 94 at The Legacy Midtown in Dallas, Texas. Adrienne lived a life filled with gratitude, kindness, generosity and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her greatest joy was always the people she loved, and she made each one feel special and cherished. Adrienne Shea and Phil Strull began their remarkable journey in Brooklyn, NY when she was just 13 years old and Phil was 16. Their love story spanned more than eight decades and they moved with their family to Dallas, Texas in 1973, where they built a beautiful life. For 22 years, Adrienne was affectionately known as the “bag lady” at Neiman Marcus, where she greeted customers with warmth, style and a smile that left a lasting impression. Yet no accomplishment brought her more pride than her family. They were her heart, her purpose and they always came first. The best word to describe Adrienne is “legendary”. She will be remembered for her natural beauty, her impeccable style; never without her Revlon red lipstick, her quick wit, her unforgettable “Adriennisms”, nicknames and her spirited rendition of NY, NY at every family celebration. She was the embodiment of strength and resilience, but above all, she was pure honesty and love. Adrienne never met a stranger and no one who met her ever forgot her. She had a rare gift for making every person she encountered feel like the most important person in the room. Her warmth, humor and genuine interest in others created friendships wherever she went. Adrienne was a “one-er” and there will never be another. There was only one Adrienne and her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the traditions she created, the laughter she inspired and the immeasurable love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered and loved beyond words. Adrienne was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Citrin Shea and GeoSrey Shea, her sister Joan Shea, brother Stephen Shea, husband of 63 years Philip Strull and her beloved son, Eric Strull. She is survived by her son Brian Strull (Susy), daughter Valerie Newberg (Jeff), daughters-in-law Margo Strull and Keo Strull. Her loving and adoring grandchildren Sean Strull (Savanna), Brandon Strull (Jessi), Cody Strull (Mollie), Alec Strull (Montana), Courtney Strull (Drew), Niki Newberg, Ryan Newberg (Ruthie) and Jacob Newberg. Precious great grandchildren, Brynlee, Hayes, Shea, Brooks and Noa Strull. “Aunt A”, as she was affectionately called, loved her nieces, nephews and their children as her own. There will be a “celebration of a life well-lived” at noon on Tuesday, June 30th in the Stern Chapel at Temple Emanuel with a shiva/luncheon reception in Linz Hall, also at the Temple following the service. The family requests that donations be made to Jewish Family Service of Dallas or the Senior Program at the Dallas Aaron Family JCC.
