Vicki L. d'Hemecourt

Vicki L. d'Hemecourt, 69, of Richardson, Texas, passed away on August 13th, 2020. She was born in Belton, Texas on August 31, 1950, and grew up in nearby Killeen, Texas. Vicki graduated from Bellaire High School in Houston and earned a bachelor's degree in English and History from the University of Texas at Austin. While studying at the University of Texas, she met and fell in love with George d'Hemecourt at the El Chaparral apartments. They married in July of 1972. During their long and happy marriage, the two traveled across the globe and throughout the United States. After graduating from college, Vicki worked as a teacher in South Texas and later went on to work as an advertising copywriter for Joske's in San Antonio and Southwestern Life Insurance in Dallas. She retired to devote more time to her family after the birth of her son, George. She was a loving and supportive mother who never missed a game, practice, or performance. Vicki was an incredible amateur chef who loved feeding her family and sharing her knowledge of cooking. She enjoyed Southwestern art, creative writing, and science fiction television shows. She had a passion for home renovation--from design to implementation. And she was not afraid to take a sledgehammer to an unwanted wall when inspiration struck. A lifelong Longhorn and an avid baseball fan, she attended countless sporting events, was a member of a student spirit organization supporting athletic teams, and even worked as a Spacette at the Houston Astrodome around the time of its opening in the 1960s. Although small in stature, Vicki's personality could light up a room and was reflected in her chic and bold sense of style. Vicki was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Ferber; her parents, Lillian and Arnold Ferber; and her stepfather, Gilbert Peck. She is survived by her husband, George d'Hemecourt III, and son, George d'Hemecourt IV; her sister, Donna Kaplan; her stepbrothers, Michael and Herbert Peck; her father-in-law, George d'Hemecourt Jr.; and numerous caring nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She will be dearly missed. The family wishes to express their appreciation for all of the kindness and support they've received during this difficult time. In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions may be made to the Austin Pets Alive, Helen Keller International, the University of Texas Longhorn Foundation, or a charity of one's choice.
