Sheila Bassman Shidlofsky

Sheila Bassman Shidlofsky, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Sheila’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and resilience, and she leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and lives touched by her warmth. Born to loving parents, Charles and Ethel and sisters Phyllis and Lois, Sheila grew up with a profound appreciation for family and community. Her passion for helping others was evident from an early age, leading her to pursue a life dedicated to making a difference. Her unwavering commitment to her family and friends was the cornerstone of her life, and she will be remembered for her generosity, wisdom, and sense of humor. Sheila was the beloved wife of Victor Shidlofsky for 61 years, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they built a home filled with joy, creating a haven for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sheila was the proud mother of Charles (Sherri) Shidlofsky, Mark Shidlofsky (Dana), Jill Rasansky (Shawn) and Lee Shidlofsky (Becky), the adored grandmother of Alyssa Larizza (John), Kara Shidlofsky, Ian Shidlofsky (Eleena), Layne Katz (Adam), Sami Shidlofsky, Brittany Schaefer (Dustin), Justin Rasansky, Steven Rasansky, Jake Shidlofsky and Noah Shidlofsky; Great Grandmother to Evan Katz, Elliot and Jordan Schaefer each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her friendships were equally important to her, and she nurtured lifelong connections that were marked by her ability to listen, empathize, and offer support. Sheila’s presence in the lives of those who knew her was a gift, and her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her dedication to her family and friends, Sheila was deeply involved in St. Jude Hospital and charities for dogs and cats, where she made lasting contributions and forged meaningful relationships. Sheila is preceded in death by her spouse Victor Shidlofsky and her sister Phyllis Curtis. She is survived by her loving family, who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sheila’s memory to St. Jude Hospital.
