Sarah Aronstein

Sarah Aronstein passed away at 98 years young on February 9, 2019, just twenty days short of reaching her 99th birthday. She was the beloved and cherished wife of Maurice Aronstein, who predeceased her in July 2005, after 64 years of a beautiful, close, happy, and loving marriage. She will always be the beloved mother of Marian and Gaby Braun, Robert Aronstein and his fiancée, Karen Reis Emmott, and grandmother to Dan and Taryn Braun, Jennifer and Brad Beleiff, and great grandmother to Jacob, Ryan, Asher and Aden Braun, and Madison and Avery Beleiff. Sarah was predeceased by her sister, Annie Jacobs. She is survived by her sister, Bernice Mazer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sarah was born in Cuero, Texas, a first generation American, to Jake and Mollie Cohn. Sarah loved living in Cuero, working in the family dry goods store, The Fair, and raising her family there with Maurice. Sarah balanced a career with that of being a hands on mother. Her family meant everything to her and throughout her life, she remained supportive, loving, and caring to her parents, sisters, husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sarah was the rock of her cherished family. She was a wife and mother, and a career woman, before it was fashionable to be one. Her father considered her to be the business woman and she proved him correct. She kept perfect books and was an effective administrator until the store closed in 1987. Sarah had a zest for living, for being there with her family for all holidays, simchas, and special times up through her early nineties. She leaves a legacy of values for her family to follow. Sarah was strong, opinionated, and intelligent. Her integrity and sense of fairness was to be admired. She was a kind, respectful, and thoughtful woman who genuinely cared about others. She enjoyed and treasured many life long friendships. Devotion to her family and her Jewish roots was just one of her many admirable traits. The family wishes to thank Seasons Hospice and acknowledges with tremendous gratitude the extraordinary care provided to Sarah by her team of devoted caregivers, Minnie Long, who assisted and lovingly cared for Sarah for twelve years, and Cassie Simmons and Olga Rico who compassionately cared for her as well. Sarah will be missed by all who loved her - especially her family.
