Melissa Rochelle Comisar

Melissa Rochelle Comisar, 55, of Plano, Texas, passed away on June 26, 2025. She was born in Bryan, Texas, on November 29, 1969, to Jack and Barbara Wilpon. Melissa graduated from Emory University with a degree in English and then earned her Master’s in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin. She later moved to New York City to jumpstart her career in advertising. While working on a project in Cincinnati, Melissa met the love of her life, Scott Comisar. They married on March 30, 2003, and together raised two beautiful daughters, Leah and Maya. Melissa loved her family and friends deeply. She was always there for the people she loved — a devoted and loyal friend to so many. She didn’t just make friends easily; she maintained those friendships throughout every phase of her life. Her loyalty ran deep, and if Melissa had your back, you knew you were never alone. Above all, Melissa loved spending time with her family. The center of her world was her daughters, Leah and Maya. Melissa was their biggest cheerleader, always encouraging them to work hard, stand up for what is right, and believe in themselves. She was a fiercely devoted mother, endlessly proud of the young women they are becoming, and loved to share their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. Melissa gave generously of her time and energy to the causes and people she cared about. She was a dedicated Girl Scout leader, inspiring young girls to grow with courage, confidence and character. She was a member of the Chevra Kadisha; always giving selflessly of herself. You could always count on her to play mah jongg or pokeno with the neighbors at a moment’s notice. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Melissa was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Wilpon, and her nephew, Ryan Goldblatt. She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Scott Comisar; her daughters, Leah and Maya Comisar; her father, Jack Wilpon; her brother, Matthew (Rebecca) Wilpon; her sister, Joanne (Andy) Goldblatt; her sister-in-law, Robin (Randy) Maceyko; her nephews, Brandon and Ryan Maceyko, Aaryn and Brett Wilpon; and her niece, Emily Goldblatt. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 29, at 2:00 p.m. at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX.
