Melissa Phipps Bank - October 25, 2024 Melissa Anne Phipps Bank, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on October 25, 2024. A loving mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, Melissa leaves behind a legacy of kindness and warmth. Melissa was born on July 22, 1964 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Melissa and her family moved around during much of her childhood, living in Atlanta, Palm Springs, Los Angeles and New Orleans. She graduated from Clifton L. Ganus High School in 1982. She attended Loyola University in New Orleans and studied Communications and Journalism. Melissa’s biggest pride and joy were her four children. Taylor, Lindsey, Griffin and Riley were all born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her children have fond and warm memories of their mother growing up. Melissa was always involved in school functions, decorating for holidays and creating rich family traditions. She loved cooking homemade and delicious meals every night, a passion inherited from her mother, Patsy. She kept meticulous and beautiful family photo albums of every life milestone, a gift that will continue to live on in her family and honor her memory. The Bank Family relocated to Dallas, Texas in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. Melissa juggled children in all different phases of life at the same time--Taylor in college, Lindsey in high school, Griffin and Riley in elementary school. Through it all, she navigated their busy schedules and didn’t ever miss an event. Friends and family remember Melissa for her great sense of style, quick and witty humor, avid reading and creative writing skills and fierce dedication to her family and friends. Melissa enjoyed fitness throughout her lifetime and loved going for walks, playing tennis, yoga and Pilates classes. Melissa loved to travel and one of her greatest passions was organizing and planning family vacations. She always knew every restaurant, hot spot, hotel and attraction, long before the days of internet and Instagram. Melissa is survived by her children, Taylor (Phillip) Smith, Lindsey (Daniel) Fitzgibbon, Griffin Bank and Riley Bank; her grandchildren, Holden and Caroline Smith; her brother Christopher (Sasha) Phipps and niece, Marley Phipps. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia Phipps. Her family and friends will forever remember her vibrant spirit, unwavering love, and the countless moments of joy she brought into their lives. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. A private graveside funeral service will be held for family and close friends on Sunday, November 10th. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Nexus Recovery Center (nexusrecovery.org/donate) in Dallas, TX.
