Joseph Bernhard Goldman

Joseph Bernhard Goldman, 85, passed away in the early evening hours of April 7, 2025. He died peacefully and quickly with his loving wife, Linda, by his side. That same day, he enjoyed conversations with his friends, played bingo, relaxed, and ate dinner with Linda, always living life to the fullest. He was known as Bernie to his friends, and admittedly, everyone he met was a friend. He was born on December 23, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts to Albert and Lucille Goldman. Because of his father’s business endeavors, the family moved with some frequency. He was most proud of the time spent in Ann Harbor, Michigan where he graduated from the University of Michigan High School. He equally loved his Penguins from Youngstown State University. After graduating from college, he met Dianne Zoldan. Following a brief courtship in Pennsylvania, they married and moved to Texas, where Bernie accepted a position as a Medicare auditor. Bernie and Dianne were blessed with two daughters, Francie (Parr) and Aileen (Durrett). Bernie and Dianne were married for 30 years until Dianne’s passing in 1995. After Dianne passed, Bernie met Linda Sancton, and a great love was formed. They married in 1999. Linda’s family, which included her two daughters, Daryl (Blaugrund) and Jennifer (Oakes), combined with Bernie’s family, became one. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Dianne. His legacy and memory will live on through his wife, Linda; daughters Francie (Gary), Aileen (Joel-deceased), Daryl (Jed), and Jennifer (Don); grandchildren Matthew Parr (Nicole), Rachel Parr, Riley Blaugrund, Bryce Blaugrund, Huckleberry Oakes, Cleatus Oakes, and Sailor Oakes; great-granddaughter Georgia Parr; brother Bill (Judy); cousin Mark (Kathy) Levine; as well as cousins, nieces, extended family and friends. Bernie never met a stranger and had the knack to make people feel genuinely comfortable around him. As a father-figure, he taught his children to follow their dreams and find solutions to problems. He instilled the ideal to never give up. He was someone who always had hope and saw a glass as half-full, even if no one else did. And don’t get us started on dad jokes! He was the king! When Bernie was with Linda, he was truly at his happiest. They were the couple who hosted bridge parties and played different games……which they continued to do until the end. He loved working and helping people with their insurance, always staying busy. He also loved time with his family and cooking was his passion. He knew where all the best deals were at any given grocery store! Bernie will be remembered for his love of life. We will celebrate his life on April 10, 2025, at his graveside at Restland Cemetery, Temple Shalom section, at 11:00 a.m., Rabbi Andrew Paley officiating. In lieu of flowers, if desired, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
