Isadore Reichek

Isadore Reichek, 100, of Houston, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2021; two days shy of his 101st birthday. Isadore was born on March 9, 1920 to Hyman and Jennie Reichek in Hull, Texas. In 1942 he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in England as an aircraft mechanic. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Houston and went into the barber and beauty supply business with his brothers, where he worked for 39 years before retiring in 1985. In 1949, Isadore met the love of his life, Annie Rubin, and they were wed in 1950. They have two children, Kenneth Neil Reichek and Deborah Reichek Freilich. Isadore is survived by his wife, Annie Reichek; children Kenny & Sue Ann Reichek; Deb & Joe Freilich; grandchildren Tamara & Matt Cohen, Shayna & Scott Cone, Brian & Lera Freilich, Ira Freilich and Lane Reichek. He was blessed with 4 great grandchildren: Drew & Blake Cohen, Charlotte Cone and Sebastian Freilich. Isadore spent his time traveling with his wife, family, and siblings around the world. He enjoyed barbequing, gardening, playing poker and visiting with his friends and family. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and crabbing, square dancing and spending time with his loving wife of 71 years. He volunteered for the Shriners Hospital for 30 years where he drove the Shriners van transporting children and their families. Of all of his hobbies and passions, nothing made "Grandpa" happier than spending time with his entire family. Isadore was known by all as a kind and loving man, with a great attitude. He lived a wonderful long life. Isadore was preceded in death by his parents: Hyman and Jennie Reichek and 8 siblings: Tillie & Ned Sondock, Anne & Ellis Frieden, William & Henrietta Reichek, Harry & Helen Reichek, Sherrill & Walter Kuttner, Ben & Rachel Reichek, Florence & Earl Katz and Renee & Will Amdur and his great grandson Elton Cone. The funeral will be held at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery on Post Oak on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the charity of your choice.
