Betty Aron

Betty Frances Aron, 82, died on December 17, 2014 after a courageous struggle with Leukemia. She was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away. Betty was born in Houston on March 10, 1932 to Sam and Mary Rosenberg. An only child to older parents, Betty was adored and showered with love. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend, and she always cared for other's welfare before her own. She was truly a selfless soul who never knew a stranger. Betty graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1950, and then married the love of her life for 64 ½ years, Sidney Aron. She attended college briefly before becoming a mother. She and Sidney would go on to bear four children, who consequently blessed them with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family and her beloved friends were the things she cherished the most in life. Betty always had a smile on her face and a sweet and calm disposition. She was a trusted confidant and true friend. Her strong belief in Judaism steered her to be a most ethical woman. She was a life-long member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun, and truly enjoyed all aspects of her spiritual home. Betty was predeceased by her beloved parents, Sam and Mary Rosenberg and grandson, Michael Aron. She is survived by her husband, Sidney Aron, daughters Sondra Rosenthal, Lisa Finkelstein (Elliot), a son, Howard Aron, and daughter, Diane Reich (Lewis). Her grandchildren, Adam Caplan (Elizabeth), Miriam Block (Matt), Julie Finkelstein, Melanie Rade (Gavin), Emily Kissler (Jaye), Jennifer Rosenthal , Stuart Aron and Isaac Reich. They were the joy of her life. She was also blessed with six great- grandchildren, Shayna and Harry Block, Seth and Sidney Caplan, Abby Rade, and Lilly Kissler. The family would like to thank Dr. Kelty Baker who cared for Betty with such compassion and kindness. They also want to acknowledge the fantastic doctors, nurses and staff on the 8th floor oncology unit at the Methodist Hospital who helped to make her comfortable. Their kindness was a blessing. Funeral services will be held in the Friedman-Levit Chapel at Congregation Beth Yeshurun on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 1:00pm. The family requests a private burial. Donations in her memory can be made to Congregation Beth Yeshurun, the Jewish Family Service, Seven Acres or a charity of your choice.
