Anna Belle Rhodes

It was a snowy Christmas Eve in 1924 at the McCaslin Farm in Dyer, TN when Anna Belle made her debut. Shortly the doctor exclaimed, "There's another baby!" and her identical twin sister, Wanna Mae was born. The family already had a 2 year old boy and 3 year old girl, but with the addition of the "whirling dervish twins" life was never the same. The family moved to Memphis, TN, where they all graduated from high school. Anna Belle loved to play basketball at school. After graduation the twins worked at one of the military bases contributing to the war effort. She met and married her husband, Sidney C. Rhodes from PA. After the end of WWII and Sid attending college they re-established the family in Memphis. Anna Belle enjoyed these early years of being a housewife and mother to her two daughters Anita and Deborah. In 1957 the family moved to Lake Jackson, TX where Sid went to work for Dow Chemical in Freeport. It was during these years Sid and Anna Belle began working extensively in their church in almost every capacity. Anna Belle was always recognized for her culinary skills and often referred to as a gourmet cook. It was not unusual for her to supervise church dinners involving 250 people! With an empty nest Anna Belle began selling a line of Aloe Vera cosmetics ultimately becoming a Sales Director. She continued with this work upon their moves to Newark and Strongsville, Ohio in addition to contributing to church work. With retirement she and Sid moved to The Woodlands, TX to be closer to their family. They enjoyed these later years of their church work, gardening, some traveling and especially playing with grandchildren Jeffrey and Tamara! With all their moves they met and worked with many people touching hearts and lives along the way and will be greatly missed by so many! She is survived by daughters, Anita J. Kopycinski, Deborah Cohen, son-in-law Dr. Larry D. Cohen, grandchildren Jeffrey Cohen and Tamara Cohen. As well as her twin Sister Wanna Mae Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank The Forum at Memorial Woods, The Gardens of Bellaire and Blue Bonnet Hospice for their loving care.
