Ann Goodman

Ann Fitch Goodman died peacefully in her home on May 31st in McKinney, TX at the age of 64. Ann is survived by her husband, Mark; her children Matt (Rachel), and Andy (Anna); her siblings, David and Michael; her grandsons Aubrey and Ryder. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellen and Avrum "Babe" Fitch; her mother and father-in-law Leatrice "Letty" and Reuben Goodman; her brother, Mark. Ann was married to her husband for 43 years and they made a wonderful life together in St. Louis, MO from 1975-1985. In 1985 they moved with their children to Dallas, TX where they laid down their roots and raised their family together. Ann was a passionate fashionista and was able to turn her passion into a career for over 30 years at Mel Crews, a Preston Center women's boutique. The ongoing support and love that her customers showed her during her illness was a testament to the connections she made during that time. Ann was a loving mother and was able to see both of her sons marry beautiful women. She adored her two grandsons and showered them with love and attention. Later in her life, she developed a taste for volunteerism, specifically as part of the Temple Shalom Sisterhood and in 2011 she was named the Woman of Valor, the Temple Shalom Sisterhood's most prestigious award. Whether she was making five-star meals for holidays, dancing at weddings, or just spending time with friends and family; Ann lived her life with exuberance. Her smile would light up any room she was in, and she was always the life of the party. Her fight with cancer was a long battle and while ultimately it overcame her, during her final days she was surrounded by her loving family and she showed everyone that she truly had the heart of a lion. A funeral was held Sunday, June 3rd at Temple Shalom, with a graveside service following at Sparkman/Hillcrest for family and close friends. Rabbi Andrew Paley officiated the ceremony. The family would like to thank the medical teams at UT Southwestern and New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University for their excellent healthcare as well as the Vitas hospice staff for their comfort and their care. Her memory will always be a blessing to her family, her friends, and all those who knew her.
